A One Week Teardrop Tour

– Day One –

It’s a cold spring night, but my dog Jacks and I are nice and warm inside my compact and cozy teardrop trailer. The rain is lightly pattering against the sleek aluminum shell, as I sit quietly writing under the light of a small lamp. My legs are stretched out and my feet are tucked neatly under the long cabinet floating above my padded full sized mattress. Outside, in the center of our picturesque campground, hot embers from the fire pit are smoking from the fresh rain. Across from me, my friends are nestled in their tents and under extra tarps to help keep dry.

🙂

We had such an amazing day, with many hours spent exploring the nearby beach coves and playing Frisbee, with the help of our dogs of course. Then, after settling back into our campsite just a mile from the coast, the night began around a roaring fire. The crisp midnight air fell upon us as we roasted marshmallows, drank beer, and enjoyed the banter of good friends. As we said our goodnights and everyone made their way to sheltered sleeping bags, I thought of how lucky I was to have my teardrop trailer along. I had no worry about setting up a tent and had no worry about staying warm and dry from the weather, and my bed was a comfortable foam mattress, four inches thick and dressed in heavy cotton sheets.

Tomorrow morning, we are getting ready to head down the coast to yet another spot for more adventures. All I need to do is close up the kitchen hatch in the back, lock down the cabinets, and I will be ready to it the road. That means I’m going to sleep in, while my friends take the time to dismantle their tents and pack up their belongings. (Just another advantage of having a trailer that is always packed and ready to go.) Our plan is to drive over three hundred miles of the Oregon and northern California coastline, stopping to camp along the way. With how light my teardrop trailer is gas will be inexpensive for the long haul.

🙂

This is stop number one, just a few miles from Coos Bay. Next stop is Nesika Beach. With so many amazing places yet to see, I am excited for what’s to come. I’m looking forward to the week ahead, and although this journey will be my first time traveling and living with a teardrop trailer, I am sure it will not be my last!
