Teardrop Camper Experiance

A Great Camping Experience with Teardrop Trailers

Camping and trekking outdoors, especially during your youth, can be an experience that you will remember forever. Laying beneath the stars in a large sleeping bag, telling ghost stories and roasting marshmallows over a hot fire, hiking and spending quality time with family and close friends; those are the kind of moments that make for a great and lasting camping experience. With such an impressionable activity, the way we camp can help to create the mood for the outings.

One year, my Uncle bought a teardrop camper trailer and invited my brother and I out to camp in the woods near his cabin in Wisconsin. Hitched to his red Chevy Bronco and gleaming under the sunlight was the smallest and coolest teardrop trailer I had ever seen. The sleek silver curves, compartments, and small door had my brother and I enthralled. There were many exciting features for the time, including interior lights and a cabin fan powered by a small generator.

We drove it out to a quiet back-country spot by the lake and pitched a large screened canopy around the back end of the trailer for grilling. We sat around the small kitchenette making hot-dogs, drinking root beer, and watching the sky change colors as dusk closed in. My brother and I fell asleep in sleeping bags under the canopy, listening to the small radio our Uncle had brought and plugged into the trailer. It was one of the best camping experiences I had as a child, and the teardrop trailer left a lasting positive impression.

Years later, I was lucky enough to experience the joy of a teardrop trailer once again. I was on a break from college in Colorado and had been invited to drive through the Rocky Mountain National Park with a couple of friends and their two teardrop trailers. One was bright yellow and rounded like a Pac-Man ghost, and the other (the one I bunked in) was reminiscent of my Uncle’s aluminum teardrop trailer. We set out for three days of driving around glaciated peaks and lush forests, spending our nights inside the warmth and comfort of the teardrop interior hutch. Many nights, I would use the small reading light and write in my journal of the day’s experience. The heaters kept us warm and the shell easily kept the cold wind at bay. It was memorable just to drive through and stand amongst the grandeur of the mountains and valleys, but having the convenience and comfort of a teardrop trailer along for the ride made the experience even better.

Perhaps the best part about teardrop trailers is that almost any type of vehicle can tow them along, making it an appealing advantage to many small car owners. A simple outdoor kitchen and comfortable sleeping quarters is all that you really all you need to have an enjoyable night under the stars, and these trailers provide that, and much more! No matter what age you are or where your location is, you’re sure to have a great camping experience with teardrops.
